Why coach with an actor?

Current research emphasises the importance of active learning through interaction and dialogue.

Using both actor and facilitator, ActorFactor help to create a powerful learning environment that combines all three elements.

The result builds on the traditional use of roleplay in that both the facilitator and the actor are crucial for maximising learning.

Through coaching, participants are helped to identify personal learning objectives and then to practice behaviours through interaction with an actor. Using actor and facilitator both subjective and objective feedback can be given. The facilitator will also elicit objective feedback from peer observers, who are able to add understanding from the work context.

Dialogue around this ‘in the moment’ interaction focuses on successful behaviours as perceived by participants, together with changes that would make the interaction more effective for the desired objectives.

Playing with roles begins in early childhood and is crucial for our development of self and others in the world. Self-awareness needs to continue growing throughout life as we take on new personal and professional roles. Our understanding of roleplay is vital to its success in helping individuals to make more effective choices in behaviours that impact on themselves and the organisation.

ActorFactor’s combination of acting and coaching is unique.
