Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why use ActorFactor?
In training work…….
All our associates are dually skilled as actors and facilitators and many have additional qualifications within the fields of human behaviour, business, education, health and training & development. In addition we have a large database of skilled actors who work with us and understand the unique partnership between theatre and training.
We will use a best fit to provide actor/facilitators who will offer you the best skills for your programme.
In examination…….
We have considerable experience in providing actors who are skilled in playing a wide variety of roles with consistency and authenticity.
We are also able to search our large database and networks to provide actors to a particular brief for clinical examinations, management assessment processes, and specific exercises within your existing programmes
Why not just role-play within the training group?
ActorFactor actor/facilitators are prepared to play with roles themselves from the outset of programmes, leaving delegates free to watch, analyse, re-work interactions and then participate at their own pace if they wish.
Our actor/facilitators are skilled in presenting behaviours authentically as a catalyst for reflection and discussion of individual behaviours and organisational culture.
High challenge-Low risk!
Our actor/facilitators understand the difficulty some delegates may have with small group role-play as a learning method and that past experiences may have been less than positive. Our work offers the individual and the group the opportunity to challenge current practice within a very safe environment where support for practicing skills is high.
Actor/facilitators offer an appropriate level of challenge within behaviours and situations that are useful for the individual , and participants are encouraged to try something different as, with an actor, any risk from ‘getting it wrong’ is very low. The emphasis is on the dynamic interaction between actor and participant and we are able to be sensitive to responses whilst keeping it real.
Won’t it increase the cost?
The simple answer is yes!
We are prepared to work with you, however, to try and find a combination of actor/facilitators that works for your programme and your budget.
ActorFactor associates are dually qualified and are therefore able to swap roles within training exercises and programmes which can often help to keep the cost down.
Try it and see for yourself!.....
We know the additional cost is worth it but we want you to be satisfied that you have value for money.
We can therefore build in taster sessions for you to see for yourself how the process will benefit your organisation.

What if a delegate has a fear of ‘performing’ or being watched?
Let’s consider four aspects of our work….
Firstly, no-one has to have a go – the role of peer observer is also extremely valuable in offering support, feedback and new insight.
Secondly, we find that this fear is overcome by the majority of delegates as soon as they get a chance to watch us playing out situations first.
Whatever the programme, the process moves gently towards participation of individuals at a variety of levels within the individual’s control.
The emphasis is on the situation and behaviours, and most delegates are prepared to become active participants once they understand the usefulness of practice & rehearsal of their own skills.
Thirdly, ‘performance’ implies that there is a need to get it right. Although being watched is hard for some, participants are actively encouraged to play with skills and to see what happens. Change often happens from realising that behaviours are not having the desired effect on the character the actor is playing.
And lastly…..It is great fun!
